Dear SJV Families,
I pray that this email finds you safe and healthy. With yesterday’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order from Governor Inslee, we want to let you know how the order impacts our operations. The safety and health of our community is our highest priority, and by complying with this order we hope to drastically reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus in our community. The situation remains fluid, and we continue to take things day by day, looking ahead as much as possible.
The teachers and I held a virtual faculty meeting this morning using Google Hangouts Meet, and all teachers have been instructed to continue working from home to provide education to the students, as they have for the last week. We are committed to providing the best education possible during this challenging time, even when we are apart. Teachers are available via email, phone, and other platforms to connect with students and families, answer questions, share materials, clarify directions, and assist with access to digital resources.
SJV office and administrative staff will be coming in on Thursdays to perform essential business functions, but the school building will be closed the other days of the week in compliance with the governor's order. We are continuing to operate, but we are working remotely. The best way to reach the school during this time is via email. You can email the school at office@sjvspokane.org and you can find individual email addresses on our website at johnvianney.com. You can also leave a voice mail at 926-7987, but phone messages will only be checked on Thursdays.
Packet Pick-up
We will continue with our plan to provide learning packets this Thursday, March 26 from 7:00 am to 6:00 p.m. Because of the “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order, we are asking that you pick these packets up only if you cannot access the work electronically. If you can access the online resources, please stay home. For those who need packets, here is the full schedule of planned packet pick-ups and drop-offs:
Spring Break
Spring Break is April 6-13. There will be no new learning activities during Spring Break. This is also Holy Week, and we encourage you to participate in Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday services as you are able.
Virtual Fun!
Get ready for Viking Virtual Spirit Week, the week of March 30 to April 3! We are in the final stages of planning this fun and wacky way to keep us all connected, so stay tuned for more information later this week.
The Nazareth Guild is sponsoring a daily contest in which three Catholic school students will win a $10 Amazon gift card. For more information and to enter visit nazarethguild.org
SJV Website Resources
There is a new area of the school website devoted to the current COVID-19 situation, johnvianney.com/covid19 This area will contain all school updates regarding our response, and will also contain resources like our daily Lenten rosary videos.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this journey together. Be assured of my continued prayers for the safety and health of you and your children.
In Christ,
Nick Senger, Principal
