Join us for an evening of connecting as family and friends at the 2023 SJV Family Night.

St. John Vianney Catholic School is once again partnering with Gonzaga University's Department of Counselor Education for a dynamic Family Night event on Wednesday, March 15 at 5:30 p.m. We’ll provide dinner and childcare, all you have to do is show up and enjoy the evening! 

The evening will feature various presentations and round table discussions by Mr. Jesse Dhillon, SJV School Counselor; Dr. Mark Young and his marriage and family counseling students; Dr. Addy Wissel and her school counseling students; Dr. Brenda Senger, RN; and Deacon Nick Senger. Parents and guardians will be able to choose any three of the following topics to attend:

1. Family Prayer: Have you ever wanted to pray more as a family, but didn’t know how to take the next step? Join Deacon Nick Senger, SJV principal, in exploring three different ways to make prayer a part of your family’s day. Lent is the perfect time!
2. Technology Safety: Join SJV School Counselor Mr. Jesse Dhillon to explore topics like internet scams, adults posing as children, identifying concerns and communicating about them, phone/computer security, appropriate/inappropriate posting, and proper development of online presence.
3. Healthy Meal Planning for the Busy Household: Don’t have time for grocery planning and preparing healthy meals? Are food labels confusing?  If you would like more information about making meals more nutritious, how to plan meals, and eating together as a family then join Dr. Brenda Senger, RN for a conversation about food.  There may even be some healthy snacks to share!
4. Managing Homework: Are you struggling with completing your homework? Is it hard to find time in the day to get everything done? Join Dr. Mark Young and masters degree students in GU's Marriage and Family Counseling program to collaborate on ways to join as a family to finish and ace homework assignments and learn how to better manage your time!
5. Creating Calm within Your Family: This session will give you insight and practices that will support your family while navigating stress. Led by Dr. Mark Young's masters degree students from GU's Marriage and Family Counseling Program.
6. Communication with Dr. Mark Young and GU students: Building strong relationships within the family is the basis for healthy and effective communication. Led by Dr. Mark Young's masters degree students from GU's Marriage and Family Counseling Program.
7. Planning for High School: Questions about transition to high school, confused about high school credits, or wondering about college/career planning? Join Dr. Addy Wissel's masters students from GU's School Counseling Program for this roundtable and connect with high school counselors to learn more! 

While adults are learning and discussing, Gonzaga masters in school counseling students will engage your students in enriching and fun activities in the gym that activate the mind, body, and heart. 

The evening will conclude with family dinner in the parish hall. Take a night off from cooking dinner and come enjoy some family time with friends. Pre-register below to qualify for the prize drawing!
