Join us for an evening of connecting as family and friends at the 2025 SJV Spring Family Night. Free of charge and open to families in all Catholic schools and parishes and their friends!
 
St. John Vianney Catholic School is once again partnering with Gonzaga University's Department of Counselor Education for a dynamic Family Night event on Tuesday, March 18, at 5:15 p.m. We’ll provide dinner and childcare, all you have to do is show up and enjoy the evening! 

While adults are learning and discussing, Gonzaga masters in school counseling students will engage your students in enriching and fun activities in the gym that activate the mind, body, and heart. 
 
The evening will conclude with family dinner in the parish hall. Take a night off from cooking dinner and come enjoy some family time with friends. Pre-register below to qualify for the prize drawing!
 
The evening will feature various presentations and round table discussions by Ms. Nina Moore, SJV School Counselor, and Dr. Mark Young and his marriage and family counseling students. Parents and guardians will be able to choose any three of the following topics to attend:

1. Coping Skills: We will explore and discuss different strategies and tips to help you and your kids in stressful situations. We understand that stress happens to everyone and we are here to help you learn what to do when to prevent it from becoming too overwhelming, or what to do once it is too overwhelming.
2. Managing Anger/Frustration in Parenting: Unlock Your Calm: Mastering Parental Frustration. Are you finding your patience wearing thin? Come learn actionable techniques to regulate your emotions in the heat of the moment. We’ll cover strategies to learn how to transform challenging moments into opportunities for growth.
3. Technology and Internet Safety: The world is changing and social media is a big part of your child’s life! It can be difficult to manage time spent and content online. We can talk about how to manage this and your feelings around it!
   
4. Conflict: Does it seem like you’re always arguing with your child and do not know where to begin? Learn conflict resolution strategies and healthy ways for better communication to build a healthier relationship with your child!
5. Parenting Self-care: We’ll explore practical ways to prioritize your well-being while balancing the demands of raising children. Learn strategies to nurture your marriage and manage stress, so you can show up as the best version of yourself for your family.
6. Connection: Come learn about ways to strengthen your connection with your child through enhanced communication and play. We want to provide realistic ways you can build one-on-one time in your daily schedule!
7. The Anxious Generation: Whether or not you've read the book, come discuss the "great rewiring of childhood" as we navigate a world in which kids are "over-protected in the real world and under-parented in the online world".
